Hello! I’m  Kayla and I am an occupational therapist (OT) based in Key West, Florida. As a pediatric occupational therapist I am passionate about building children’s independence and confidence as they navigate the world around them. I believe that children and their families should have access to high quality, individualized, and timely care right here in the community they live in.

I earned my  Bachelors in Science in Rehabilitation Services and Masters in Science in Occupational Therapy. I have worked with adults with varying developmental abilities in the areas of employment and independent living. As an OT, I've worked as an early intervention therapist with children 0-3 years of age and as a school-based provider with children 3-21 years of age. Upon moving to Key West, I became licensed with the state of Florida and worked as an Exceptional Student Services teacher at a community school where I further developed my understanding of the unique skills and supports children and their families need to navigate education.Throughout my career I have maintained advocacy efforts for strength-based, play-based, and evidence-based practices.

In addition to my work as an occupational therapist, I am a wife, mother of two, and animal lover.  I use coffee and humor to help me navigate all that life has to offer. What I love most is spending time with my family exploring the keys and beyond.

Evaluation

Our evaluation process involves understanding each child's unique strengths and challenges to create personalized therapy plans that address specific goals and objectives. Evaluations include, but are not limited to, thorough medical history reports, interviews with the family, observations, and standardized testing. Evaluations typically last an hour, but may be broken into two sessions for the benefit of the child.

Intervention

We utilize individualized, innovative, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support children with developmental delays, physical disabilities, behavioral or emotional differences, or learning difficulties through personal goal attainment. Interventions are delivered typically one-on-one in our clinic for 60 minutes weekly, depending on the evaluation results and the child’s unique needs.

Education & Support

We recognize the vital role of parents in the lives of the children we serve. Our practice aims to provide guidance and support to parents, empowering them with strategies and tools to continue the therapy at home and ensure the child's progress is consistent and sustainable.

Keys Occupational Therapy clinic is conveniently located in the Key West Professional Plaza (behind Key Plaza Publix). Families can access elevators from the ground or first floor to the 3rd floor. Once off the elevator please take the right hallway down to suite 310. Keys Occupational Therapy is located in office 310G. â€‹

What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy is a highly skilled, healthcare practice that enables individuals to participate in a variety of activities they find meaningful through skill building and/or accommodation techniques. For children occupational therapy may support fine and gross motor development, cognitive and social skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and more!

How long is a typical session?

Occupational therapy sessions will be scheduled for an hour. This length of time ensures that children are supported through session transitions, actively engaged in the therapeutic process for 45+ minutes, and that families have ample time to ask questions to ensure carry over of techniques.

What is the cost of therapy?

Evaluations including a written report are $250. One hour therapy sessions are $125.  Payment is due at the time of all services. Keys Occupational Therapy PLLC accepts the following payment methods: cash, check, or credit card.

At this time, Keys Occupational Therapy PLLC is private pay only  and considered out of network with all insurance companies. Private pay options allow for flexibility and creative solutions when providing services. Insurance companies often dictate the number and duration of services and occasionally do not cover occupational therapy services at all. By accepting private pay options only, we do not require referrals or prior authorizations.  Keys Occupational Therapy can provide what is known as a Superbill which would allow a client to seek reimbursement of services through insurance benefits.  Families are responsible for verifying with their insurance company to see if this is an option.  â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
